To Uplift a community one must offer a way for each individual to take control of their own future.
Doing For must be met with Doing it Myself. Pride is a vital part of the African spirit.
Design a system to impart a sense of self. A system that inspires being in control of my own destiny, with a little help from a few angels.
My journey has led me to meeting some of the most influencial, integral and intriguing humans in Hout Bay. During my frequent taxi rides I’ve had the privilege of learning much about the hopes of the people on the ground. Their common obstacles were overwhelmingly echoed by that of the majority of the people I’ve encountered across the Western Cape during the past few years during this odyssey.
We have many ideas, many passions and many skills. Yet they are being wasted in bureaucratic thoughtlessness and governmental disinterest in the greater good. Thousands and thousands of highly skilled people are being lost in a quagmire of in-fighting without an end.
People from around the world have gathered here in Hout Bay for a reason. Whatever that reason, they’re here, now. Using their skills for the betterment of humanity should be our only priority. Who they are, where they lived before is largely irrelevant to the matter of their being Human.
Harnessing who you were before, what you know and how you can add value to your community will uplift your spirit, value of self and therefore courage and confidence to follow your passions regardless of obstacles.
At ‘What I Think’ we encourage all inhabitants of Hout Bay to become THE COLLECTIVE!
Say it how it is with a plan to make it better. Tell us what you can do, will do and want to do so we can fit you into the community better.
